More of the Same

I have some Krays stuff done that's less crass, I'll have that up soon.

Anyway, Dave Sims new project, Judenhause (rhymes with Maus!) is here soon, and uh...I have this feeling that the Holocaust is like the Jewish version of 'the n word' like nobody else should talk about it? Except for Germans and Austrians, because at least they're owning up to their heritage? Like, what does Dave Sim know about being in a death camp? What does he have to say that hasn't been said by Spieglman or Wiesel? (or many others)

So, it's like the worst possible kind of bid for respectability after becoming comic's laughing-stock for his views on women, you know? But it made Neil Gaiman cry (I think?) and he's Jewish so maybe it has some merit. Not that I'm going to read it to find out.

Nothing more, nothing less

Always liked S. Clay Wilson. His art and his philosophy of ' you can draw whatever you want.' So that's what this comic I'm working on is, intentionally shallow exploitation. Misappropriation (which I put on hold after some advice from a former teacher) and the Krays comic had some sorta attempts at deepness and shit, but not here.

You can now find me on carbonmade here. I'll probably keep this, it's good to have a sketch blog they say. But Carbonmade's all easy to use and professional and shit so I can use this address to say stuff like fuck Dave Izkoff of the New York Times book review, Bruce Campell didn't dodge zombies, he sawed them in half with his chainsaw. (not that zombies appeared in the Evil Dead movies) It's his thing. If you're going to open your review with an extended pop - culture reference, get it right. However, it does set the tone for a smug and condescending YA book review motivated more by an ideological agenda than...whatever reviews should be motivated by. Angry!

Misapropriation 0.5

The first page of the graphic novel I've been working on. I have 16 other pages scanned, but I think I'll hold back on posting them. Partially because I keep coming back and polishing them, and part because I've added pages between them. And partly because I'm not sure of the value of doing so.
